2019 was a monumental year for the Great Britain Student Riders. We hosted our first home Nations Cup in 5 years, welcoming 18 teams and 20 countries from around the World to compete over 3 days. Nearly 200 student riders joined us for the August bank holiday weekend, travelling as far afield as Las Vegas and Algeria!
The agenda for the weekend was as follows:
Thursday 22 August: Welcome Party - Fly your Flag
Friday 23 August: Day 1 Dressage (Team test + Second Round), Cultural Activity (Afternoon Tea) + Circus Fancy Dress Party
Saturday 24 August: Day 1 Showjumping (First + Second Round), Black Tie James Bond Masquerade Ball
As the heatwave arrived in Norwich with temperatures rising to as high as 34 degrees, it truly felt like the Sunshine Tour had landed in Great Britain. We enjoyed 3 fantastic days of tough competition with some beautiful horses and beautiful riding. Final results saw Germany's Kevin Rudolph take the Gold medal, Great Britain's Emily Latham-Taylor took Silver and France's Clementine Dubois finished in Bronze. Overall, Spain took the team title but we were delighted to see Great Britain finish the dressage in Silver medal position and a respectable 5th place combined.
